The Walther/Umarex P99 RAP4 paintball marker is a joy to own and a greater joy to shoot.
This is a case where when you see it, you just HAVE to have it. And when you GET it, you are VERY glad you did.
I will say it's got POWER - about 90 shots per CO2 cylinder (internal in grip), and it WILL tear through pie plates with EASE, even at 5+ meters. They say it will distance out to better than 100 meters...we'll have to see as my basement gallery doesn't have THAT much room!
And it's REALLY accurate (out to 5 meters anyway) with real tight "splotch" patterns ("grouping" is better left for bullets...lol)
It has all the right features and logos from Walther as well. The trigger safety button is a nice addition. The decocking button on the slide works beautifully. Then there's the "blowback" feature that truly makes this a fun pistol.
And it's .43 CALIBER to boot!
Shop around for paintball ammo prices - you can get 250 paintballs for as low as $10. The rubber balls are costlier.
Trigger pull is not that bad, either - about 5 pounds with no noticeable creep. The only thing I would "change" would be to add 3 front sights (like the real pistol) for personal adjustment.
It does come in a hard plastic case (foam-lined) with lubricant, bore snake, cloth, and a second backstrap to change the grip shape. Changing out the CO2 carts is easier than with the BB pistol version (see my review on the P99 compact BB pistol)...MUCH easier!
Law-enforcement has taken to using weapons like this for training with much success. And it's a LOT cheaper shooting than one would think.
The people at RAP4 have got this down perfectly. You couldn't ask for more realism at such a good price.
One thing I would definitely recommend is getting at least ONE more clip for this pistol, because you WILL WANT one after firing it. And you WILL get a huge smile across your face, too.
**A word of caution, this pistol is So realistic, that it WILL get you shot if you are brandishing it about. Even officers are amazed at the realism in these markers.
So practice common sense, this is NOT a toy by ANY means.
Shoot well, and shoot safely. And have a ton of fun!
